Watch Warranty Guide

A warranty is only useful when you know who provides it, what it covers, and where service takes place.

Questions to Put in Writing

Identify the warranty provider before comparing the length of coverage.

  • Name the warranty provider.
  • Check the start date and length.
  • List excluded damage and modifications.
  • Ask who pays shipping and customs for service.

Document to keep

Keep the warranty card, invoice, and service papers together.

Manufacturer warranty

A manufacturer warranty generally requires an activated warranty card or digital registration from an authorized point of sale. Coverage commonly excludes accidental damage, normal wear and unauthorized modifications.

Retailer warranty

Independent sellers may provide their own mechanical warranty. Ask who performs repairs, where the watch must be shipped, which components are covered and whether shipping or customs costs are included.
